new Head Chef
We are delighted to announce the arrival of our new Head Chef, Mike Smith, to further develop The Lifeboat’s fabulous menus and food reputation.
Mike has spent 18 years in a number of kitchens developing his culinary skills and brings a wealth of experience with him. He has previously worked as Head Chef at various prestigious properties in Suffolk and Norfolk, including 2 AA rosette St. Giles House in Norwich, before moving to The Lifeboat Inn in January 2017.

Mike has already introduced a new spring menu that features fresh, new dishes but also includes some old favourites. Mike wants to make sure that there is something for every occasion and mood when dining at The Lifeboat Inn. The a la carte menu is served all day, 12pm-9pm, together with lunchtime and evening specials. If you are looking for a snack or something not quite so filling, choose from the lighter bites/sandwiches menu (available 12pm-6pm). On Sundays you can indulge in hearty, flavoursome roasts. There is also a delicious afternoon tea that includes freshly prepared cakes, scones and sandwiches.
Mike’s great knowledge and real love of the area and its local produce shows in the new menus that are constantly changing with the seasons. Mike’s food is traditional British with European influences and he is a great enthusiast of locally sourced ingredients. The Lifeboat, with Mike at the helm, is seeking to elevate the standard of its food offering using good produce cooked fresh in the kitchen.
Mike has said, “It really is a pleasure to be at The Lifeboat at this point in its development. Being so close to so much wonderful produce and artisan products on the North Norfolk Coast has given lots of food for thought.”
